Welcome to Paperman. Paperman is a study platform for high school learners, operated by Silentium Insights ("we", "our", "us").

By accessing or using Paperman ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. About the Service

Paperman is a website that provides study notes, quizzes, and learning resources designed to help South African high school learners understand their schoolwork.

Important: Some content on Paperman may not be 100% aligned with CAPS. This is intentional — our goal is to aid understanding of the material, not to replace official curriculum documents or textbooks.

3. Who Can Use Paperman

Paperman is for high school learners only.

  • You must be at least 13 years old to use Paperman
  • If you are between 13 and 18, by using Paperman you confirm you have permission from a parent or guardian
  • Paperman is for individual, personal use only
  • Teachers, tutors, and educational institutions must obtain a licence from Silentium Insights to use Paperman content with students. Contact founder@silentiuminsights.com for licensing enquiries.

4. User Accounts

Creating an Account

  • You can browse limited content without an account, but will be prompted to sign up
  • You must provide accurate information when registering (name, email, grade level)
  • You are responsible for keeping your login details secure

One Account Per Person

  • Each account is for one person only
  • You may not share your login credentials with others
  • You may not create multiple accounts to abuse free trials or promotions

5. Free and Paid Content

Free Tier

  • Paperman offers free quizzes and selected free notes
  • No payment required for free content

Paid Subscriptions

  • Premium content requires a paid subscription
  • We offer monthly and annual subscription plans
  • Prices are in South African Rand (ZAR)

Free Trial

  • We may offer a free trial period of 7 to 14 days for new users
  • Trial length may vary and is at our discretion
  • You may only use one free trial per person

6. Payments and Billing

Payment Method

  • Payments are processed securely via Stripe
  • We accept card payments only

Auto-Renewal

  • Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period
  • You will be charged on the same date each month or year
  • You can cancel auto-renewal at any time before your next billing date

Cancellation

  • You may cancel your subscription at any time
  • Access to paid content continues until the end of your current billing period
  • After cancellation, your account reverts to the free tier

Refunds

  • We do not offer refunds for subscription payments
  • We reserve the right to consider refunds on a case-by-case basis at our sole discretion
  • Do not assume a refund will be granted under any circumstances

7. Content Ownership and Use

Our Content

All content on Paperman — including notes, quizzes, graphics, design, and software — is owned by Silentium Insights or its licensors and is protected by copyright law.

Content is created by our team, including original material and enhanced past examination papers.

What You Can Do

  • View content on the Paperman website for your personal study
  • Leave reviews on the platform

What You Cannot Do

  • Download content for offline use
  • Print any content
  • Screenshot, copy, or reproduce content
  • Share content outside of Paperman (including on social media, WhatsApp groups, or other platforms)
  • Use content for school projects, assignments, or any submission
  • Use content for commercial purposes
  • Resell, redistribute, or republish content
  • Create derivative works from our content

8. Content Violations

Sharing Content

If you are found sharing Paperman content outside the platform:

  • First offence: Warning
  • Second offence: Permanent account ban

Selling or Claiming Content as Your Own

If you attempt to sell Paperman content or present it as your own work, we will pursue legal action.

Reporting Violations

If you become aware of Paperman content being shared or sold illegally, please report it to founder@silentiuminsights.com

9. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to:

  • Share your account with others
  • Create multiple accounts
  • Use the Service to facilitate academic dishonesty
  • Attempt to access content you haven't paid for
  • Interfere with the operation of the platform
  • Attempt to hack, scrape, or extract content from the platform
  • Use automated tools to access the Service
  • Post spam or inappropriate content in reviews
  • Harass or intimidate other users or our team
  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose

10. Account Suspension and Termination

By Us

We may suspend or permanently ban your account if you:

  • Violate these Terms
  • Share content outside the platform
  • Abuse free trials or promotions
  • Engage in fraudulent activity
  • Fail to pay subscription fees

By You

  • You may delete your account at any time using the self-service option on the platform
  • Deleting your account does not entitle you to a refund

11. Content Errors

We strive to provide accurate, helpful study content. However:

  • We do not guarantee that all content is error-free
  • Some content is intentionally not aligned with CAPS to aid broader understanding
  • Content is for understanding concepts, not for memorising to write in exams
  • If you find an error, please report it to founder@silentiuminsights.com

You use Paperman content at your own discretion.

12. No Guarantee of Results

Paperman does not guarantee academic success.

  • We provide resources to help you study, but results depend on your effort
  • Using Paperman does not guarantee you will pass exams or achieve specific grades
  • We are not responsible for your academic performance
  • Paperman supplements your learning — it does not replace school, teachers, or textbooks

13. Platform Availability

We do our best to keep Paperman available, but:

  • We do not guarantee 100% uptime
  • The platform may be unavailable due to maintenance, technical issues, or circumstances beyond our control
  • If the platform goes down, we will work to restore it as soon as possible
  • We do not offer refunds or compensation for downtime

14. Changes to Content and Service

We reserve the right to:

  • Add, update, or remove content at any time without notice
  • Change features of the platform
  • Modify subscription plans and pricing (existing subscribers will be notified of price changes)
  • Discontinue the Service at any time

15. Promotions and Referral Programs

From time to time, we may offer:

  • Discount codes
  • Referral programs
  • Ambassador programs
  • Other promotions

These will have their own specific terms which will be communicated at the time. We reserve the right to modify or cancel promotions at any time and to disqualify users who abuse them.

16. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by South African law:

  • Paperman is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind
  • We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
  • We are not responsible for any loss of marks, academic consequences, or other damages arising from use of our content
  • We are not responsible for errors in content
  • Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 6 months preceding any claim

17. Data Retention

  • If you delete your account, we may retain certain data for legal, analytical, or operational purposes

18. Dispute Resolution

Informal Resolution First

If you have a dispute, contact us at founder@silentiuminsights.com. We will attempt to resolve the matter informally within 30 days.

Arbitration

If informal resolution fails, disputes will be resolved through arbitration:

  • Language: English
  • Arbitrator: Single arbitrator
  • Each party is responsible for their own costs

19. Changes to These Terms

  • We may update these Terms from time to time
  • For minor changes, continued use of the Service means you accept the updated Terms
  • For major changes, we will notify you and require you to agree to the new Terms before continuing to use the Service
  • The "Last Updated" date at the top indicates when Terms were last revised

20. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of South Africa. Any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of South African courts.

21. Severability

If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining parts remain in effect.
